EXCLUSIVE: Venk Potula has been confirmed for The Black Record fellow Nerris Nevarez-Nassiri’s upcoming indie musical Key Change.
The announcement follows the securing of an SAG-AFTRA interim settlement for the challenge, which has allowed the producers to push on with casting.
Potula beforehand made waves together with his lead efficiency in Ravi Kapoor’s buzzy Tribeca 2022 choice and IFC and Hulu-acquired comedy 4 Samosas.
The brand new challenge is described as a semi-autobiographical story taking inspiration from the Mexican and Indian heritage of creators and writers Nassiri and Potula.
Potula will play a struggling, bold music producer who finds himself juggling desires and newfound tasks when a long-lost half-sister walks into his life as he prepares a career-defining showcase.
The movie will characteristic 4 authentic songs written by Nassiri, who makes his directorial debut.
Producers are Briana Frapart, Arjun Yadav for RSA Endeavors, Potula for Khrisp Leisure, and Nassiri.
Nassiri, a UCLA College of Movie and Tv graduate, has been acknowledged for fellowships with The Black Record, The Disruptors, Theatre Now New York, and his work has positioned in The Nicholl Fellowship and the Austin Movie Competition Finals.
Frapart, who doubles as casting director, not too long ago labored on the Max characteristic movie A Hollywood Christmas and upcoming Honorary Male, starring Margaret Cho and Kevin Woo.
Yadav beforehand led manufacturing on characteristic movies It Ends with Us, Code 3 and The Senior for Wayfarer Studios as their Supervisor of Manufacturing.

Key Change is scheduled to start out filming at the start of 2024 in L.A. It’s being financed by non-public fairness, with most of the traders who backed 4 Samosas making a return.
